It takes effect only once the Legislature passes a specific appropriation for implementation, which it has not done as of Aug 27, 2026 8. Z Aesthetic Dermatology on Flanders Dr publishes flat rates: semaglutide at "$250 per month — all doses included" and tirzepatide at "$350 per month — all doses included," with ongoing medical supervision 15. Unique Physique on Drusilla Lane publishes an "Essential Program $159 • 1 MO SUPPLY (all doses up to 2.5mg)" and a "Premium Program $289 • 1 MO SUPPLY (all doses, injectables only)," no contracts, auto-renewing; the price lines do not name the drug, so they are quoted as published rather than labeled semaglutide 16.
Warner Orthopedics & Wellness advertises New Patient Specials at $150 for semaglutide and $175 for tirzepatide, each covering an initial evaluation plus the first month of medication; a three-month membership is promoted as saving more but carries no published dollar figure, so the ongoing monthly rate is undisclosed 17. Baton Rouge General sells medical weight loss through its Express Care clinics with pricing behind a consultation 18.
Astra's national price, stated once: compounded semaglutide from $68 per month and compounded tirzepatide from $118 per month on 12-month plans, $816 and $1,416 a year. The same in Baton Rouge as everywhere else, and the same at every dose.
The specialist story here is a national outlier and worth stating honestly. Pennington Biomedical and the Metamor Institute, open since March 2022, put obesity medicine, endocrinology, psychology, dietetics, and surgery on one campus through a partnership of Pennington, Our Lady of the Lake, and LSU Health 13, and Metamor has seen 6,000-plus new patients and performed 350-plus bariatric surgeries 14. Access to expertise is not this city's gap; a published price and a covered benefit are.
The shortage picture matches. No parish-wide primary-care HPSA remains in East Baton Rouge Parish, the former Downtown, Central Area, Florida Blvd-to-Baker, LSU Gardere, and parish-wide low-income designations having all been withdrawn. What is still active is facility-based, at four safety-net sites: Capitol City Family Health Center (score 14), Southeast Community Health Systems (21), Baton Rouge Primary Care Collaborative (14), and the HIV/AIDS Alliance for Region Two (14) 7.

Opened in March 2022 on the Pennington Biomedical Research Center campus, it is billed as the nation's first integrated interdisciplinary metabolic treatment center — a partnership of Pennington Biomedical, Our Lady of the Lake, and LSU Health that puts obesity-medicine physicians, endocrinologists, psychologists, dietitians, and surgeons under one roof. It has seen more than 6,000 new patients and performed more than 350 bariatric surgeries since opening. It is an appointment-based clinical program run with Our Lady of the Lake, not a walk-in clinic — patients start by contacting the institute to schedule an evaluation. Its existence does not lower the city's cash-pay GLP-1 prices, which is the gap a posted national telehealth price addresses.
