## The short answer

**Possibly, but only with a prescriber who knows about both, because the combination has not been studied.** A PubMed search on November 3, 2026 found no papers on sermorelin with semaglutide, tirzepatide or GLP-1 medications, and Drugs.com lists [a moderate interaction with tirzepatide](https://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/sermorelin-with-tirzepatide-2055-0-4363-0.html) over blood sugar control. Astra offers these treatments separately, and a provider decides what is appropriate. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

## Why one provider helps

- **Your full medication list.** A provider reviewing your history can see what you already take, including medication from elsewhere.
- **Blood sugar in view.** That matters most if you have diabetes or take glucose-lowering medication.
- **A place to ask.** You can message your care team if anything changes after you start.

**Considering sermorelin?** A licensed provider reviews your answers and decides whether it is appropriate. ## What is known

| Question | What we found |
|---|---|
| Any trials of the combination? | None found in PubMed on November 3, 2026 |
| Interaction listed? | [Moderate, for tirzepatide](https://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/sermorelin-with-tirzepatide-2055-0-4363-0.html). It may interfere with blood sugar control and reduce the effect of diabetes medications |
| Does it help GLP-1 weight loss? | Not shown. Sermorelin did not change body weight in [the adult studies we reviewed](/sermorelin/guides/weight-loss/) |
| Does it protect muscle on a GLP-1? | Not shown. We found no study testing this |

## Why blood sugar matters here

The label for [tesamorelin](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=3d783378-b02d-4f19-99dd-0fc91a042224), a related drug that also raises growth hormone, warns about glucose intolerance. It is not known how far that applies to sermorelin, but it is one reason to involve a prescriber, especially if you have diabetes.

Sermorelin raises growth hormone and IGF-1, a hormone the liver makes in response to it. Those are the changes a prescriber may want to watch alongside your blood sugar.

## What to tell your provider

- Every medication and supplement you take, including GLP-1 medications from another provider
- Whether you have diabetes or take glucose-lowering medication
- What you hope combining them would do, so they can tell you whether evidence supports it
- Any change in blood sugar, swelling or how you feel after starting

Astra offers [compounded tirzepatide](/compound-tirzepatide/), [compounded semaglutide](/compound-semaglutide/) and [sermorelin](/sermorelin/) as separate treatments. A provider decides whether each is appropriate. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

## Common questions

### Does sermorelin interact with semaglutide?
We did not confirm a semaglutide-specific listing for this page, and we found no studies. The [listed tirzepatide interaction](https://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/sermorelin-with-tirzepatide-2055-0-4363-0.html) concerns blood sugar control, so raise it with your prescriber for any glucose-lowering medication.

### Do I need to stop my GLP-1 to take sermorelin?
Do not stop or change any medication without your prescriber's advice.

### Will sermorelin stop muscle loss on tirzepatide?
We found no study showing this, so it should not be assumed.
